Hi, Here is another (mouse) method that seems to work on my system (E16.5, RH7.2).
Use Alt-TAB to go through the list of windows on your desktop. You should be able to see (and stop) at the "hidden" window. Let go of the Alt-TAB when the desired (hidden) window is listed. Your mouse pointer should now be off the screen; it is pointed in the center of the "bar" representing the hidden window (but you cannot see it, since the bar is off the screen). Press down the left mouse key (assuming you are right handed) and move the mouse in the direction of the visible portion of the screen (if the window hid at the top of the screen, move the mouse towards the bottom, etc.). Eventually, you should see the mouse pointer and the bar of your window come into view; you are basically dragging the bar with the mouse. I hope this works for you; it seems to work for me. I tested this by intentionally pushing the window off my screen (I do not get the "auto-off-screen" option that you do ;-) ).
