I assume you have activated KDE support from the right-click menu?

To run many KDE applications on Enlightenment or Metacity (GNOME), I have generally found it necessary to install all of KDE and to run the desktop once on whatever account I am going to use for the applications. The applications often start many daemons, load all sorts of libraries and expect various configuration and authorization files to be present in the account space. This is true to a lesser extent of some GNOME applications.

The Red Hat dialer, which is based on WVDial, is a lot easier to use than Kppp. It requires no login script and the default settings work with many ISP's. You can invoke it from the little "E-Dial" Epplet which comes with E 16. Use the commands "/sbin/ifup ppp0" to start and "/sbin/ifdown ppp0" to hang up. This requires "root" privileges, so you should get "sudo" installed and configured and invoke the scripts through that to start the connection from a user account. "sudo /sbin/ifup ppp0", etc.

Good luck!

Mike
