I am not quite sure what you mean by

headers etc?'

Whatever client connects to jboss will send in some accept headers. If those 
headers include that the client accepts gzip then jboss will take care of 
compressing the appropriate mime types (defined in this patch).

The one glaring exception is IE6 (which we don't support anyway) which says it 
accepts gzip, but then doesn't actually handle it. Ran into this years ago, 
since we don't support IE6 we don't have to worry about it.
