That would incentivize fighting to keep a commit in even when it would be better for the project as a whole to alter it. Adding a market can be useful, but it is always dangerous¹ and finding metrics that do not harm an existing creative community (that’s what programmers are) is extremely hard. It becomes even harder if you try to put it into an algorithm instead of trusting people.
