Just checked with Elecraft, as I was seeing a (16lb) shipment headed
this way on a very slow route (been sitting in California for the last
24hrs). I had ordered the K2 last Friday, and requested 3 day shipment
so that I could start on the base unit this week. I went ahead and
ordered the special solder (based on recommendations from here). The
solder was $20, and I then paid $17 in shipping to get it here this week
to start the kit.
Over the weekend, from the website, I ordered some of the mini-modules,
the SSB, 100w amp, 100w atu, NB, etc to go with the kit. I planned on
starting on these a bit later, so set those for UPS ground shipment.
That way I would have the K2 and the solder to start this week (and
weekend, ***my birthday***) and have the rest of the stuff available at
a later date.
Well, you can see where this going. They held off, recalculated the
shipping, and shipped it all together (with the best of intentions of
saving me money). Now the whole kit and kaboodle (pun intended) won't
be here for another week. The way things seem to go for me. So just a
heads up, if you have special timing worked into you planning, let the
folks taking your order know.
