Lee,
It is possible that a bit (or byte) is stuck in the EEPROM.
The cure is for a Master Reset.
BUT --- beware that will knock out all the configuration data, including the K2 filter settings. I suggest you download the K2 A to B Instructions.  The first thing that it tells you is how to save the menu paramters for everything in the menu.  If you ignore that, you will have a marginally operative K2 after an EEINIT.  The menu for the filters and everything else will have to be re-entered.  THIS IS A WARNING based on much experience - I repaired over 2000 K2s, and several had only the problem of a hasty EEINIT.

For the K2, there is no automated way to get back to the original configuration, it must be done manually through the menu entries.

If you cannot resolve the problem by changing the PdL Menu entries to get "unstuck", then an EEINIT and restoration of the menu parameters is the only option.

I would also consider the firmware level may be a problem.  If you want to upgrade to the latest, you will have to change the wiring on the Control Board to that required for the KIO2 or the KPA100. If either options are installed, that wiring change has already been done.

I dusted off the old K2 for FD (S/N 2619) and tried using the internal
keyer. The InP setting is for PdLn but I only get a solid tone when I use
my paddle. I used my WinKeyer for FD with the K2 setting on Hand and it
worked as expected but would sure like to avoid using the Winkeyer outside
of contests.
