Want to monitor the power bus while the plane is flying to see if there are spikes or noise that may be causing the monitor to go haywire. Solution: Discovered my own forgetfulness or senior brainfart !! I had forgotten that I had antenna 2 connected directly to the K4D for Diversity purposes, and not connected to the KAT500. Which brings up probably a dumb question. When I transmit on this antenna connected to Ant 2 on the K4, I see power out on the K4 meter, isn't it still traveling the same path thru the KPA-KAT. Why am I seeing zero on the KPA power meter? 73 Paul w2eck ------------------------------ Message: 3 Date: Thu, 19 Dec 2024 12:44:22 -0800 From: Rick NK7I <[email protected]> To: Paul Ecker <[email protected]> Cc: [email protected] Subject: Re: [Elecraft] KPA500 Issue? Message-ID: <[email protected]> Content-Type: text/plain; charset=utf-8 I agree with Rick on this one. There are three antenna ports on the KAT500, and four (I believe) on the K4. Don?t confuse KAT500 Antenna 2 with K4 Antenna 2, they are not the same port. Only one output from the K4 goes to the KPA500 and then to the KAT500. If the K4 has Antenna 2 selected, and the KPA is connected to Antenna 1, then the KPA will see no power in. With no power in, there will be no power out. But the antenna connected to K4 Antenna 2 will see power. You might want to draw a diagram showing the station components (K4, KPA500 and KAT500), add which control program handles each, then post it to remind you what will happen when you select various ports. 73, Jack, W6FB > On Dec 19, 2024, at 2:18?PM, Paul Ecker <[email protected]> wrote: > > Jack & Bill > Problem resolved sorta of. > Solution: Discovered my own forgetfulness or senior brainfart !! > I had forgotten that I had antenna 2 connected directly to the K4D for > Diversity purposes, and not connected to the KAT500. > Which brings up probably a dumb question. Message-ID: <[email protected]> Content-Type: text/plain; charset=utf-8 Because of random mental gas releases (brain farts); I try to simplify as much as I can. In the heat of the DX/contest moment, small thing matter so make them simple. My K4 antenna port 1 is relabeled ?KPA1500? and port 2 is ?Dummy? (the load, not the operator). You may wish to do similar, using the tools that Elecraft designed into the K4. 73, Rick nk7i > On Dec 19, 2024, at 12:57?PM, Jack Brindle via Elecraft <[email protected]> wrote: > > ?I agree with Rick on this one.
