Assalam-o-Alaikum. I need guidance, especially from seniors in US, in selection of universities. I am applying to US universities for Spring 2003.
A bit of my profile first. I have done my BE in computer systems engineering. My choosen major is MS Computer Engineering, area of specialization Digital VLSI design/Computer architecture. My GRE & TOEFL scores: (V530,Q720,A760) & 287 respectively. My academics: 83.7% (aggregate). My project was on implementation of JPEG image compression core on an FPGA. I want to apply to 5 universities and have shortlisted the following: 1. University of Texas at Dallas 2. University of South Florida 3. University of Massachusetts at Amherst 4. Penn State University I consider the first two univerities to be relatively likely to get admitted into, while the last two universities rank in top 50, and hence difficult to get into. I need to select one more school, which is a safe school but has faculty with research interests in my chosen area and offers substantial courses in my chosen area. I am considering the following list: 1. Missippi State University 2. Worcester Polytechnic Institute 3. Wright State University 4. University of Utah I would like to hear about the reputation of these Universities (are they worth applying, my chances, any other information) that can help me in making a decision. I will most welcome any other suggestions from you (like names of other universites). Also, can someone point out German Universities that have a good program in my chosen area. Thanks for your time.
