IMHO, you and everyone who thinks like you, are just plain silly.
The point is that the auctions which people DON'T bid on are those with an
initial price high enough to not put a reserve on it. There is a price,
below which I won't sell and if I set that as a starting bid, people get
more scared by that than a reserve bid. On items where demand is highly
variable, you are taking a BIG chance on a high ticket item with no
reserve.
