Just for information...

Some Japanese guys appeared to succeed in replacing their LCD back
lights.
They reported their LCD displays recovered brightness and look like new
now.
The back light(fluorescent tube) costed only $20, which is much much
cheaper
than LCD display itself.
Well, there are two things to be concerned.
First, they said the instlation procedure was more difficult than that
for G3 card.
Seconds, it's difficult to get the back light(fluorescent tube) suitable
for 2400.
They got the fluorescent tubes from a Japanese internet shop.

(Now, they seems out of stock because many Japanese 2400 junkies buy
them.) 
Note that this shop is not a big business and even not a computer-only
shop).
