Thanks for all your quick responses and for broadening my thinking on 
compatible PCMCIA card readers.  I tried a NewMedia SmartMedia PCMCIA 
Adapter and it was a total dud, apparently can't read 5v cards.  Wouldn't 
mount on desktop, wouldn't eject.  I had to eject it with the ol' trusty 
rusty paperclip.  Thanks to William and Chuck for the word on MicroTech 
readers; I'll be getting one from SmallDog.
