my upgraded 2400c (newer 240) ran between 190 - 210 before i took it apart
and put a dot of thermo paste between the processor and the "heatsink" on
the bottom of the bottom case. that dropped the temperature to 165 - 170 no
matter what i do on it.

when you sent it back for the loose screw, they may have added the thermo
paste when they tightened the processor screws.

the 2400 does not have a fan like the G3 powerbooks.
