Hi Dana,
seems to be the right file, did you literally enter the key
"xmlui.ArtifactBrowser.SimpleSearch.filter.dc.type"
there? (these names are case sensitive).
Also, if the change doesn't appear immediately, you can do a mvn package &
restart your tomcat.
To verify whether changes to your messages file take effect, you can also
try a small change to one of your other (already working) messages keys, to
verify whether your dspace installation adopted the change in the file.
