Note that both are about DRI enabled, so if you're seeing the same symptoms with
it disabled, you're probably having a different problem.

No, not loading the "dri" module should disable the DRI. Double-check it in the
log file though.

The widely reported issue with DRI enabled should be fixed with current
xf86-video-ati git.
