This is not a new problem, I just just happened to discover recently.
When a window is partially covered by another window, or off the edge of
the screen, reading pixels from those areas gives undefined results
(because there's no backing store). That's within the OpenGL spec.
A bit strange to leave it undefined, but O.K.
I'm just trying to make sure everything is as it should be.
