after the xscreenesaver flying toasters froze on my desktop, i found this in my /var/log/messages:

machine froze... i couldn't even get out of X to a console. after
rebooting, i didn't find any *.core dumps anywhere on /

attached is "XFree86.0.log_dri-crash.gz". if it doesn't come through just
ask me for a copy, i'll hang on to it for a few days/weeks.
i don't subscribe to this list, so if anyone needs more info contact me
off-list. i found someone else who reported something like this in usenet,
but no resolution. i don't know if this is a known bug or not, but i'm
guessing that this info might be useful to improve the next version.
thanks....
