Ok, this is pretty off-topic, but I'm wondering what the status is for open-source support of 3D-capable drivers for such studly monitors as the IBM T221.
It is a beast. A couple people in my group are trying to convince management that we need one, but it's a hard sell (as I'm sure you can imaging). I'm CCing a couple people who will know better, but I'll tell you what I can recall. If you run it from a single DVI input you're only going to get about 7Hz refresh rate. I believe that we briefly had one running on some sort of Nvidia setup using dual DVI conntects, and we got about 18Hz.
It should be possible to drive it with a Radeon 8500 type card. One of the 9100 chips would probably be your best bet. You wouldn't get any accelerated 3D on it, though. It could be accelerated, but our current static back-buffer / depth-buffer architecture won't allow it. At least, not without a lot of pain.
