Has anyone ever tried building the DRI (or X server) with the Intel C compiler for Linux, if so any noticable improvements, I hear it does FP stuff a lot better... if not does anyone think it would be difficult..
I don't know that anybody has tried. You might ask on the XFree86 devel list to see if anyone has built the rest of X with that compiler. If that works, building the DRI parts *should* work as well. I'm not sure how much of a speed up it would be. Most of the transform and lighting paths have already been hand-coded in assembly. It would be interesting to see how the output of the compiler compares with the hand-tuned assembly.
