If he's using the GinGin64 supplied binaries and kernel, he's using a complete 64bit kernel+userland including X. I believe it is probably a DRM issue that needs a few pokes with a stick. I'm going to try to reproduce it on ia64 also to see if it is likely a 64bit issue or just an architectural oddity. Either is possible.
