Running the Torque Engine example application (http://www.garagegames.com/) runs for a few frames and then locks the system up. X is completely hung and it can't be killed. Remote logins to the machine are possible but the display is frozen until reboot.
The system this occured on was a Dell Inspiron 5100 with a 32MB ATi Mobility Radeon M7. The version of the Torque Engine was the CVS version from 2003-06-17 although I have tried it on other versions with similar results.
I'm keen to pursue this bug and am willing to help in whatever way I can. Note that the Torque Engine is not free software so if necessary I will explore ways to assist in reproducing the problem.
Can anyone help me with this?
Cheers,
Zik Saleeba
The only help I can give you is to tell you that this problem is also experienced by Radeon users (Texture & Lighting drivers only) in Tribes 2.
So you can search the net and mailing lists for Tribes 2 lockups and maybe get some more info about it from there.
I hope to God you find what the problem is.
I have to use my Geforce 2 MX card to play Tribes 2 _and_ Neverwinter Nights _and_ Unreal Tournament. Currently I only use my Radeon to play movies, but I'd like to change that ...
