What you want is for control to pass to the loop used when VB->importable_data is nonzero. You could change the test condition, or even kludge VB->importable_data to include VERT_BIT_COLOR1 -- though if you did that it would be nice if you also made sure VB->SecondaryColorPtr was populated.
