-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hi,
After a bit of messing about, I managed to get DRI working on my Mobile Radeon 7500 (XFree86 4.2.1 from a fairly recent Debian sarge snapshot, custom 2.4.20 kernel). Unfortunately, the performance isn't wonderful. On similar hardware, a GeForce2 Go gives about 700 fps under glxgears. I get about 400-500 with the Radeon, even though the Radeon is supposed to be faster than the GeForce (It certainly is under XP). The laptop is a 1.7GHz Mobile P4, 512MB DDR RAM and has an Intel 845 motherboard. Is poor performance a known problem? Any ideas how to improve the performance? If I set LIBGL_DEBUG=verbose, I get the following: libGL: XF86DRIGetClientDriverName: 4.0.1 radeon (screen 0) libGL: OpenDriver: trying /usr/X11R6/lib/modules/dri/radeon_dri.so libGL: OpenDriver: trying /usr/X11R6/lib/modules/dri/radeon_dri.so drmOpenByBusid: busid is PCI:1:0:0 drmOpenDevice: minor is 0 drmOpenDevice: node name is /dev/dri/card0 drmOpenDevice: open result is 5, (OK) drmOpenByBusid: drmOpenMinor returns 5 drmOpenByBusid: drmGetBusid reports PCI:1:0:0 2109 frames in 5.0 seconds = 421.800 FPS Thanks and Merry Christmas :) - -- Cheers, Chris Howells -- [EMAIL PROTECTED], [EMAIL PROTECTED] Web: http://chrishowells.co.uk, PGP key: http://chrishowells.co.uk/pgp.txt KDE: http://www.koffice.org, http://printing.kde.org, http://usability.kde.org -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.2.0 (GNU/Linux) iD8DBQE+CQ0lF8Iu1zN5WiwRAv6rAJ9Lu5zPzi8/niWf+cwThQYqX2YXYwCePxGy SfKrYOvo3/AYYEVx+EYvX1o= =1qf/ -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- ------------------------------------------------------- This sf.net email is sponsored by:ThinkGeek Welcome to geek heaven. http://thinkgeek.com/sf _______________________________________________ Dri-devel mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/dri-devel
