Is direct rendering reported as enabled in the server log with a current
snapshot? If not, does it tell a reason?

Probably related to DMA transfers for Xv. XFree86 CVS has that disabled
by default, maybe I should merge that one of these days. I think someone
reported Option "XAANoPixmapCache" (or another pixmap related option)
works around the problem.
