I think I found a cause for a problem described at http://marc.theaimsgroup.com/?l=dri-devel&m=101843821602258&w=2
If I run a X11 application that updates the screen periodicaly (clock from KDE kicker, gkrellm), I'll see this problem happen. When I'm not running the apps, the problem will go away. I'm not exactly sure why this happens, and why it doesn't happen on my other hardware (I only have an old TNT running nvidia binary drivers). I'd also like to know if this is general DRI problem, or is it only Radeon DRI problem. Note that this problem happens on all versions of DRI I tried, (4.1.0, 4.2.0, XFree86 CVS HEAD, DRI tcl branch).
