Half life - I used to play that under w98 on a mach64 a couple of years back. IIRC I used "software" mode - which was hardware if you had a mach64 & worked around not being able to see underwater in directx & GL being generally flakey & slower. You didn't get bilinear filter & in the middle of crossfire with lots of action around as low as 12 fps (this was after tweaking - no gun drawn etc.). I'm in the same position now with a Voodoo3 - 10fps on beach in wolfenstein :-( What happens if you try software under wine?
