If this is the case, then something in the driver is assuming that line
width and the number of pixels per line should be equivalent - I get a
"stair-stepping" effect where the end of each line wraps down to the next,
producing an unusable display, unless you force the video mode. If my
solution to the problem is the wrong one, I'd certainly like to see the
right one, whatever it is, implemented.
