Matt,
This functionality is a ways off. There are more issues than just
creating a gigantic root. David Dawes has been making great progress on
basic multihead DRI support w/o Xinerama using 3Dfx cards right now.
Once that's working, additional issues can be addressed for DRI under
Xinerama support:
1) Extensions to client side GL wrappers to handle multiple dispatches
and associated GL states.
2) Offscreen memory management enhancements to avoid putting all
textures and pixmaps on all heads.
3) Poorman's Xinerama optimizations for multihead configurations that
share a single graphics engine.
4) Addressing the lack of hardware sprites on some heads (this is an
issue for the G4*0).
