I just wanted to express my opinion (which may not be a popular one on
this list)....I actually don't mind the "schlock"!

The "Have A Nice Decade" set is put out by Rhino, and contains tunes that
are mostly from the 25 volumes of "Super Hits Of The 70's"....one hit
wonders of the 70's.

I own the whole set, and that, together with Time Life's "Sounds Of The
Seventies" collection, form a good library of 70's music. The "Super
Hits" are indeed more schlock, but for me, it is the nostalgia of the
music - taking me back to my childhood, when it was common to here this
stuff on the radio. Believe it or not, I actually have days where
I want to listen to this. The music sounds oddball-ish and dated, but
that's part of what I like about it.

"Sounds Of The 70's", on the other hand, contains the more enduring hits
(including the Doobies' hits) of the 70's. This is the music which I even
remembered the words to, listening to my parents' 8-tracks. This is a
good set to buy, if you just want to have the "big hits" of the 70's.

The Doobies will always be #1 in my book, but I do also know the words to
"Afternoon Delight", by the Starland Vocal Band. A guilty pleasure.... :)

I have a feeling I may be, but I hope I'm not, alone on this!
