Hi Gang,
Like our dear Doug (LONEGATOR), the question of how to introduce Sibling
Rivalry to the masses has been simmering in the back of my mind. The old
Airplay Paradox. It's got me thinkin' - and you know what a dangerous thing
THAT can be!
Anyway, my inspiration came last night. I'd made dinner, done some work on
my dissertation (while spinning SR in the background and humming along) and,
as a means of rewarding myself, plopped down to watch the tube for a few
minutes.
And what should I find but "Angel," the WB Network show in which the hero is
a good-deed-doing vampire. So OK, I watch "Angel" every once in awhile, and
I commenced watching once again.
Then it came to me like a shot..."Angels of Madness"! Yes, that haunting
and mysterious song from SR that's had us all wondering from time to time
(e.g., "...what the heck is THAT one about?" - DJ Ron). As I watched, I
began thinking about that tune...and it fit perfectly with the show. Just
think, it's got elements of eternal torment, a dreamy, unreal and flowing
feel, mystery, madness, sensuality, seduction, death divine, lies disguised
as truth, dark caresses, empty nights..."Love is no sin, your night will
end."
My thought, demented though it may be, is that the Doobies should try to
hook up with the producers of "Angel," "Buffy," or one of the myriad vampire
movies that are being made these days. I'm talking Soundtrack City a la
Anne Rice, and a potential for exposure to new audiences.
How about it, Guys?
Fangs alot,
Dave from Denver
