I probably have an updated version of the extension. I of I remember I will see guess current the public version is.
The macros could be included in the template but that would not integrate it. The extension works by setting character styles. I have exported to PDF with color intact. If this fails for you, either expert has changed or you're settings are different than mine. I cannot verify until next week, but I can test if you like.
