If an idea is important enough, we will include compatibility options for older Python versions. For example, we ship copies of unittest2, dictconfig logging, and a number of importlib and fuctional programming utilities in order to support the Python versions in which those facilities aren't available natively. Of course, we will balance the value of a change against the cost of maintaining a local copy of that library, but to say that we won't do this at all is patently and demonstrably incorrect.
