Yes - a 1.0.X and 1.1.X branch exists - but they weren't created until some time after the release of 1.0 and 1.1 respectively. A branch is only required when trunk development differs from bugfix development -- that is, when we start adding features to trunk. Until we start adding features, having two branches (trunk and stable) just makes more work for the core team. I would expect to see a branch at some point in the next couple of weeks.
