It seems Safari (Mac, at least) is still plagued by what seems to be the behaviour described by http://code.djangoproject.com/ticket/348 - when you have a ManyToMany, and have turned it into a javascript- enabled filter box pair (SelectFilter2.js), then you get funky behaviour.
This is fine in Firefox/Camino, but still has duplicates (and no pattern to them that I could find).
