We're in an unfortunate situation here. The person who mentored that project (Malcolm) hasn't had the spare time to contribute to Django to see the fruits of that branch delivered to trunk. At this point, I wouldn't be relying on the branch - it's not receiving any specific attention, and it's not (to the best of my knowledge) in a ready-to-merge state.
