I agree with your points. I wouldn't use Oracle myself I didn't have to. I was just making sure people knew they could test with it if they absolutely needed to. And I completely agree with the thousands of pages of disorganized documentation. I have been forced to go through that stuff due to supported and developing something that uses Oracle.
