This isn't a "why?" question.   This is a "who?" question.  If someone
wants to wget the old archives and make a gzip available for us to
upload to the website, then that may be possible.  Or maybe there is a
more elegant solution?  If anyone has an idea and wants to volunteer,
they should bring this up on the [email protected] mailing
list.
