hi there, I just wanted to let you fine people over at openoffice.org to
know that there are people out there trying to make money in your name.
how do i know this? well i was sufring the net and looking for a new edition
of openoffice when i i came over this site witch was telling you how good
openoffice is and sutch (witch i allready know)
and they posted a link to a download (by all means this is quite normal,
witch was my thoughs at the time) so i klicked on the link and starte the
download witch was described to be 141 mb but was only 665kb or something,
odd..... then i scaned it for virus and sutch, all ok and then i opened it
to find out that it was a downloader (never seen an openoffice downloader
before) and my thought was oh well ok, this is new, so i klicked my way
through it and then it asked me to send a text message to 1963 with the
message MAP so that i would get a code to unlock the download.....
Thing is that it costs you 40 kr (says so in the downloader) to send the
message, about 4 € if 1€ = 10 kr (not sure at the moment). SOOOOO, what the
fuck? hehe
Could not see that you in any way had agreed to it, so i thought i would
lett you know :)

heres a link to the site: http://studio-no.net/openoffice.php

its in norwegian sadly.

any how,
Thanks for your time.

Let me do this again. First is not illegal to sell open source software, companies do it all the time. The problem comes in if they represent themselves as the developer of the program, in this case OpenOffice.org. They also have to have at least as link to the source so that anyone can download it. I do not understand Norwegian so I can not tell how close they are crossing the line. I have send a message to the new development team at [email protected] to see if someone can look into it.
