Hi:

I've reported a few bugs with Writer 4.0.2 in the past week. One of these was
the inability to select or delete a table. I experienced something similar
today while trying to add a footnote. The menu item was greyed out, and I
couldn't do so.

I also mentioned earlier that Writer seemed unreasonably sluggish while
scrolling and such things.

Checking further, I found that, I was sometimes able to get the menu items to
show up by closing and restarting Writer. At others, after working for some
time (and I'm working on a rather large document that uses lots of graphics,
extended cross-referencing, ToC, etc.) that didn't work, but restarting Ubuntu
restored the greyed-out items.

It's been several years since I was involved in software development (I'm
retired), but this sure smells to me like there's a memory leak somewhere in
version 4.0 that wasn't there previously.

By the way, if there some way you could let me know that my e-mails have been
received? I haven't been able to locate a list of reported bugs to see if these
already existed and so forth. I don't really have a lot of time to devote to
serious methodical testing, but I'd like to contribute if and where I can.

Thanks

Frank
