Hello Riccardo,
I am going on about printing:
1) The missing default printer parameter was my fault: I verified
again my dependencies and found libcups2-dev was missing (shame on
me!). After a complete rebuild of GNUstep, my default printer is now
showing in the Print Panel.
2) Printing tests:
- With my current user profile, the print task is not created.
- With the Superuser (sudo -E openapp GSPdf) I was able to print a PDF
document (but with bad margins). So, it seems first some issue related
to ACLs.
3) Preview should use: '/usr/bin/gs' but it produces a memory leak
(97% of the available memory is used and then a frozen system, even I
kill the Print Panel...)
Yours,

Hello,
I have set my HP remote Printer (Envy 5020 All in One printer) with
CUPS
(protocol/Model is IPP Anywhere).
That's nice! I have an Epson network printer, also available on plain
ethernet other than WiFi, but I could not get CUPS configured with
it.
Theoretially it needs Epson filters which do not install only setup,
they are
for another linux distribution.
On MacOS, which has CPUS underlying, without installing anything it
works
well enough!
Thus I can't physically print on GNUstep right now.
- I can see it (lpstat -a) and I can use it as a remote scanner
within
ScanImage app (by Ondrej Florian) but in the Print Panel of TextEdit
or
Ink, I have only an "Unnamed" item in the Printer list.
that smells like a bug.
Also, GSPdf is installed, but I cannot save to a PDF file. The Panel
self
closes if I try to.
How would it save to PDF? GSPdf is a front-end to ghostview: it uses
it oto
render TIFF images and displays the, it has no re-export to PDF. How
are
you doing that? With a Dummy Printer?
I have a bad news fro you though, Printing is a long time issue of
GNUstep,
essentially it is plagued by various problems if you just try to save
a PS
file and check it (and tha tis the file that would be printed).
We have issues with margings, image placements, paginations... a long
time
issue I occasionally hack with Greg or Fred, but no small fix, that
is why it
is lingering.
Thus before wasting pater, I'll check my file first.
