There are many ways to look at it. In terms of history the Framebuffer code
in Qt was written around the same time directFB started. Another point of
view might be performance, e.g. your hardware provides acceleration for
certain 2D routines that the normal Qt/E Framebuffer driver will not use but
DirectFB can.
