Package: devscripts
Version: 2.14.8
Severity: normal
Hi,
I am in the process of packaging jchart2d, a Java library and I need
to repack the source tarball. When I download the source tarball,
uscan / mk-origtargz fails with the following error message:
Command:
uscan --verbose --repack --compression xz --force-download
Error:
jchart2d-eclipse-project-3.2.2.zip does not look like a tar archive or
a zip file. at /usr/bin/mk-origtargz line 326
The file can be downloaded from
http://sourceforge.net/projects/jchart2d/files/jchart2d/sources/jchart2d-eclipse-project-3.2.2.zip/download
Now the file utility tells me that jchart2d-eclipse-project-3.2.2.zip is a
Microsoft OOXML
file and that is probably the reason why mk-origtargz refuses to
repack the tarball. However this format is zipped and unzip is able to unpack
it perfectly.
I know that upstream should use a sane compression format but I would
already be happy if there were a uscan or mk-origtargz option to
override this behaviour and tell them to ignore the confusing
Microsoft OOXML format and treating it as a zip file.
Thanks
Markus
