Are you certain this is what's happening?  How much of the time is
spent on compression, and how much on FEC encode?  Are you certain
that the checkbox doesn't work?  There is both compression and
encoding happening; are you sure the problem isn't as simple as
they're both getting the same status message?

Weren't you complaining about this earlier?  Has anything changed
since then?  IMHO this is significantly lower priority than data
retention, opennet reconnection, and more problematic client-layer
bugs.
