Then encryption has nothing to do with it. If you use a regular LUKS-based 
block encryption, then you're running a regular filesystem which should 
exhibit the same path limitations as without.

If you're using ecryptfs, upgrade on your next reinstallation. ecryptfs is 
deprecated and buggy.
