Qt Creator has an implementation for windows too http://code.qt.io/cgit/qt-creator/qt-creator.git/tree/src/plugins/coreplugin/progressmanager/progressmanager_win.cpp Nobody of us found a sensible way to do something similar on various Linux desktops though.
