On the topic of linux distribution provided versions Ubuntu 10.04 LTS has 0.9.8k-7ubuntu8, updatable to 0.9.8k-7ubuntu8.13 Ubuntu 12.04 LTS has 1.0.1-4ubuntu5.8 (I don't know the original release in the iso, but it was 1.0.x)
