Hi Guys,

I am running a zfs on an Ubuntu (14.04.4) server, and (because I am running 84 disks), am using named vdev (e.g. "FrontRow5Column3Near") so if one fails, I have some idea where to find it.

Whenever I reboot the server, they all come up by their device names ("sdf"). If I then export them, and re-import them (without rebooting), it works fine.

I had the same issue on our testbed, and "USE_DISK_BY_ID=yes" in /etc/defaults/zfs fixed the problem, but this didn't work on production.

Does anyone know any reason this would happen?
