Before I realized that your test suite was also aimed at the difference in
zpools with and without the hole_birth feature, I wrote [my own
test](https://github.com/stevenburgess/zfs-problem-reproduce) for this issue.
As mentioned in the README, the only combination that this fails with is new
code and pools without hole_birth.
After reading your comments in this patch, I was under the impression that it
would address this issue, but if I modify a stock ZoL 0.6.5 with these changes,
my test suite still fails.
I also made a [stand alone version of
zfs_send_007_pos.ksh](https://gist.github.com/stevenburgess/47e476615fd8cefc8640)
to run on ZoL (we don’t seem to have oseek for dd, and our find -delete
attempts to delete the entire directory) and the test was failing with and
without the patch.
I will be testing this more soon, maybe I applied the patch incorrectly, and I
would also like to try to get my test running on an illumos distribution. But
for now, happy holidays!
