My main concern with using all these different download sources is that this will likely not work if we want to use it in five or ten years due to URL changes.

One problem with the using Binutils/GDB Git snapshots is that they share a repository. I uses currently the Git mirror of some random user ("bminor"). I will try to set up a Binutils Git mirror for RTEMS. We don't need an automatic synchronization. We just have to do this for an RSB update.
