**This is a proposed Change for Fedora Linux.**
This document represents a proposed Change. As part of the Changes process,
proposals are publicly announced in order to receive community feedback.
This proposal will only be implemented if approved by the Fedora
Engineering Steering Committee.

== Summary ==
Update the cmark package and library to version 0.31.1 (or later).

Various dependent packages will be rebuilt against it.

== Owner ==
* Name: [[User:Petersen| Jens Petersen]]
* Email: <[email protected]>

== Detailed Description ==
This should be a straightforward change: cmark will be updated from 0.30.3
to 0.31.1.

The main effort is just rebuilding all the dependent packages
to avoid dependency breakage, since cmark-lib has a tight soname.

The list of known dependent packages is given below in the Dependencies
section.

== Feedback ==

== Benefit to Fedora ==
We ship the latest version of cmark (a well-known markdown library and
tool).

== Scope ==
* Proposal owners:
** confirm the final minor version with upstream
** create a rawhide sidetag for build
** build new cmark version
** rebuild dependent packages with any required coordination with
maintainers
** help with coordination if needed

* Trademark approval: N/A (not needed for this Change)

* Alignment with the Fedora Strategy:

== Upgrade/compatibility impact ==

== How To Test ==
* test cmark tool
* check the dependent packages install and function as expected

== User Experience ==

== Dependencies ==
* evolution
* gnome-builder
* mkvtoolnix-gui
* neochat
* nheko
* perl-Clownfish-CFC
* perl-CommonMark

(The Change owner is a Proven Packager.)

== Contingency Plan ==

* Contingency mechanism: Change Owner will revert to current 0.30 and do
any required rebuilds

== Documentation ==
- https://github.com/commonmark/cmark/releases/tag/0.31.1

== Release Notes ==
* cmark has been updated to 0.31.1
