The problem is in the USA's patent system. FFMPEG contains
patent-encumbered code.

If that would remove the dependency on FFMPEG, then I suppose that
would work around that problem at least.

You could also try packaging Jami in RPM Fusion, if FFMPEG is the only
obstacle.
